Katie Zeitler Diamond | Vice Chair – Seattle EcoWomen, MBA Graduate, Nonprofit work, Nature Enthusiast
Katie is a recent MBA graduate with a background in management and sales, direct patient care, professional photography, and nonprofit volunteer work. She is passionate about nature, leadership, and creating an inclusive and nurturing community of women who care about the environment in a professional and/or personal capacity. She has spent many hours cleaning up Washington’s trails, advocating for safety and “Leave No Trace” principles outdoors, and inspiring others to get out and enjoy the beauty of our world. Katie brings a sense of humor, probably way too many baked goods, and a deep level of care and compassion for our world to Seattle EcoWomen.
Stephanie works for Dr. Estella Leopold in the Leopold Pollen and Seed Laboratory at the University of Washington. Originally from Alaska, she earned her BS at Excelsior University in New York, and her MA in Biology (with an emphasis on conservation) at Miami University in Ohio. Her paleobotanical research has focused on the biogeography of Abies bracteata (the bristlecone fir), the Eocene/Oligocene floras of Colorado, the description and climate analysis of a Middle Miocene paleobotany site from Central Washington, and comparative ecological analyses of several paleobotanical sites. As well as paleobotany, she is interested in the ethology (animal behavior) as a tool for conservation and remediating human/wildlife conflicts. She is a member of AASP, the Animal Behavior Society, the Nature Conservancy, the National Wildlife Federation and the Aldo Leopold Foundation.
